Have Gun - Will Travel follows the adventures of Paladin, a soldier of fortune turned hired gunfighter, played by John Dehner. Paladin prefers to settle problems without violence, yet when forced to fight, he excels. It´s 1875, and Paladin lives at the swanky Carlton Hotel in San Francisco, where he dresses in formal wear, eats gourmet food, attends the opera, has a Chinese valet named Hey Boy, and enjoys the company of beautiful women. When working as a gun for hire, he dresses entirely in black, uses calling cards, and wears a holster decorated with a chess knight emblem - a symbol that refers both to his name and to his occupation as a champion for hire. One of radio´s best-loved Westerns, Have Gun - Will Travel ran from 1958 until 1960 and was a successful offshoot of the highly rated television show. The 12 suspenseful episodes in this collection aired in 1959 and are: ´´The Return of Doctor Thackeray´´, ´´Winchester Quarantine´´, ´´The Monster of Moon Ridge´´, ´´Death of a Young Gunfighter´´, ´´The Five Books of Owen Deaver´´, ´´Maggie O´Banion´´, ´´The Gunsmith´´, ´´The Colonel and the Lady´´, ´´Gun-Shy´´, ´´In an Evil Time´´, ´´Blind Courage´´, and ´´Roped´´. A 2005-2006 Chocolate Lily Nominee A BC Book Prizes Christie Harris Illustrated Children´s Literature Prize Nominee´´ No one knows who originally penned this traditional English verse, whose French origins referred to Louis XIV. But Maggee Spicer and her husband, popular children´s author and entertainer Richard Thompson, have turned the familiar nursery rhyme upside down in this charming version. The Grand old Duke of York has many soldiers eager to do his bidding. And in this romping tale they dutifully go up, down-and neither-up-nor-down-as ordered. But although these soldiers have obviously been trained to march, they have little discipline and no sense of decorum. No matter where they happen to be on the hill, they might decide to stop for a game of chess or tag...or even catch armadillos in bags. Other times they cheat at card games, then they play fair... sometimes they even wrestle grizzly bears, or dress up in silly suits, or play basketball with gnomes. This is one army that everyone wants to join. The acclaimed authors of ´´When They Are Up´´ do not take their soldiers too seriously, nor does artist Kirsti Anne Wakelin, whose colorful army looks like they just stepped out of a deck of playing cards. This fun and rhythmic tale will appeal to all listeners who like their verses bouncing and rollicking, with a huge dose of silly. Includes a page of the complete lyrics, accompanied by the music

Children´s Fiction Fantasy Adventure: The Time Twins & The Magic Crystal is Part Two of The Time Twins series where Jack & Abbey´s adventures see them meeting many more wonderful characters and solving the puzzles and mysteries of Oakland. Clutching the chess box, Abbey stepped on the Red Queen´s square and gazed into her eyes, but she could hear music and voices coming from above. She turned and looked up and noticed a spectacular chandelier hanging there and as she stared beyond it she could see a balcony surrounding a hallway above her. Suddenly hundreds of faces appeared at the balcony staring down at Abbey in fancy dress masks. One of them was a young woman, who waved frantically at Abbey. Then two masked men appeared at her side and pulled her violently away from the rail. Distracted by the warm breath of the Red Queen, Abbey became hypnotised by her eyes. She heard the young woman scream, ‘Help me, please help me,´ but it was too late, the floor opened and they disappeared in a flash… Who was the young woman? Why did she desperately need, Abbey´s help? Now it´s time to find out…Will the twins succeed in helping her? Only time will tell! ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Sarianna Gregg.
